FUTURE FIELD PRIZE
Creative States’ Future Field Prize is a juried annual award that recognizes a transformative piece of art, architecture or design whose vision for the future uplifts, emboldens and engages us to sow the seeds for the world we want to create.
Sitting at the intersection of art and society, this international award supports speculative projects that are deeply compelling and provocative, inviting people from all backgrounds to collectively envision a world to reach for rather than avoid. We award imaginative ideas, experiences, interventions or artefacts that stimulate new kinds of conversations and explore bold new possibilities - be they emotional, environmental, physical or political. We hope the prize will draw attention to a diverse field of talented creatives who can help us all perceive desirable states and imaginable futures.

Open to projects from the disciplines of art, design and architecture, the Future Field Prize celebrates work that exhibit the following qualities:
Speculative: The work is imaginative, experimental and future-seeking; buoyed by possibility yet tethered to reality.
Aspirational: Taking present-day challenges as the starting point for critically exploring more desirable futures, the work emerges from a desire to chart pathways toward a better tomorrow.
Embodied: The work uses the language of the arts to ground complex issues in our everyday experience in tangible, relatable, and playful ways that move us by tapping into our senses and emotions.
Generative: The work seeks inventive, viable and impactful approaches that inspire us to live together with greater dignity and beauty.
Engaging: The work actively solicits input or collaboration from other disciplines and the greater public to invite open-minded discussion in creating their future.
Guided by the current theme, Creative States selects a committee of five experts from a variety of fields to nominate, review and select the Future Field Prize winner. Meet our current jury.
