Fasten your seatbelts for lift off to Planet-B and new future worlds
This month marks the start of a new living exhibition at the NRW Forum in Düsseldorf, Germany. “Planet B – 100 ideas for a new world” is a great experiment, a living exhibition and a three-month long festival with over 100 workshops and activities in the exhibition space and in public space to help us take off for Planet B. A spaceship on the exhibition floor will act as a research station for artists, designers, visionaries and the public to propel themselves into the future with alternative designs created within the museum walls.
The international group exhibition engages with the radical changes to our planet – and looks for a plan B, for the future we are all dreaming of. Some 500 years after the publication of Utopia, a novel by Thomas More, artists, designers, architects, researchers and entrepreneurs will be presenting their utopias for the 22nd century. Food hacking, the smart city, alternative economies and sustainable consumption – with their projects, the artists will highlight alternatives and drawing our attention to social, political and economic injustices. Yet the artists will not create patents or innovations. They will stretch our imagination and create impulses that stimulate rethinking, inspiring us to see the world differently. The exhibition and festival runs through August 21, 2016.
